Users Say They Were Tricked Into Gambling Their Money Away

The company behind popular gaming website MyPrize.US is running an illegal online casino in violation of California law, a new lawsuit claims.

The lawsuit alleges the company disguises its real-money gambling platform as a “social casino,” misleading players into thinking they are participating in harmless entertainment rather than unlicensed gambling, and are unintentionally getting hooked in the process.

California Plaintiff Says He Lost Hundreds

California resident Raymond Mirzayan filed the lawsuit after playing MyPrize’s games between January and July 2025.

What started as casual online gaming, he says, quickly turned into real gambling. Mirzayan received a small allotment of free “Gold Coins” and “Sweeps Cash,” but once he used them up, he began purchasing additional Sweeps Cash to keep playing.

Over several months, he wagered and lost roughly $500 on slots and jackpot-style games offered through the site.

The complaint says Mirzayan was misled into believing MyPrize’s games were “free to play.” Instead, he argues, players are enticed into spending money on Sweeps Cash, which can be used to wager for the chance to win real cash prizes, making the system indistinguishable from a traditional casino.

He’s suing to recover his losses and to push the company to comply with state gambling and consumer protection laws.

Alleged Violations Include Unlicensed Betting and Misrepresentation

According to the lawsuit, MyPrize promotes itself as a “social casino” to skirt California’s strict gambling regulations. Players can buy Gold Coins for fun gameplay, but those purchases come bundled with Sweeps Cash, which holds real monetary value.

After meeting minimal playthrough requirements, Sweeps Cash can be redeemed for cash via cryptocurrency payments, making every spin, roll, or card draw a true wager.

The lawsuit argues this setup mirrors the “Internet sweepstakes cafés” that popped up in the early 2000s, operations that pretended to sell legitimate services while actually offering casino-style gambling through disguised sweepstakes entries.

MyPrize, the complaint contends, has simply revived that model online.

Beyond the alleged deception, the filing ties MyPrize’s business practices to the broader rise of online gambling addiction in the U.S., noting that millions of Americans now struggle with gambling problems as access to digital casinos expands.

Other Gaming Platforms Face Similar Consumer Lawsuits

MyPrize isn’t alone in facing scrutiny. Other online gaming companies, including WOW Vegas and Moozi Casino, have been hit with similar lawsuits claiming they operate illegal “social casinos” that coax users into betting real money.

DraftKings is also under fire for allegedly freezing player accounts and withholding funds, while Apple and Google are being sued for enabling unregulated gambling apps on their platforms.

Mirzayan hopes to represent all California residents who lost money playing MyPrize’s online games. The lawsuit seeks damages, restitution, and a court order requiring MyPrize to halt what he calls deceptive and unlawful gambling practices.
