Lemme, the celebrity-backed supplement brand founded by Simon Huck and Kourtney Kardashian Barker, is under fire for allegedly capitalizing on the weight-loss drug craze with misleading marketing.
A new proposed class action lawsuit claims the company’s “Lemme GLP-1 Daily” capsules are nothing more than glorified citrus extracts falsely advertised as hunger-suppressing, weight-loss aids.
The lawsuit alleges that Lemme deceives consumers into believing its supplements mimic the effects of powerful prescription medications like Ozempic and Wegovy—when in fact, the capsules contain no GLP-1 agonists at all. Instead, the product is made of lemon, orange, and saffron extracts that, according to the lawsuit, have no proven clinical effect on hunger or weight.
California resident Christina Robins filed the proposed class action lawsuit after she purchased a subscription to Lemme GLP-1 Daily in September 2024 after seeing a promotional interview with cofounder Simon Huck on social media. Drawn in by claims that the product could increase GLP-1 production and help manage weight, she took the capsules as directed for over three months.
Rather than losing weight, Robins says she gained five pounds. Had she known the product lacked clinical evidence for its claims, she says she would never have made the purchase—or would have paid far less. Lemme misled consumers into believing this supplement could deliver the benefits of medical-grade drugs, the lawsuit says.
GLP-1 is a natural hormone that helps regulate blood sugar and appetite, and synthetic GLP-1 agonists like semaglutide have shown remarkable success in weight loss when taken by injection. These drugs are engineered to remain in the body for days, unlike the naturally occurring hormone, which breaks down in just minutes.
Lemme’s product, however, contains a lemon extract called Eriomin, which the brand claims can boost GLP-1 levels by 17%. The company touts this as a natural way to reduce hunger and promote weight loss. But the lawsuit points out that even if the extract does boost GLP-1 slightly, clinical studies found no impact on weight, body fat, or waist size.
By comparison, prescription GLP-1 drugs increase hormone levels by hundreds of thousands of percent and remain active far longer in the body.
Robins also argues that Lemme never tested the effects of combining its three main ingredients—lemon, orange, and saffron—in a single supplement, a standard FDA expectation for safety and efficacy in multi-ingredient products. Despite the scientific shortcomings, Lemme charges $90 for a one-month supply and encourages customers to use the product daily for up to six months.
The Lemme lawsuit joins a growing number of legal challenges targeting supplement companies for overstated health claims. The makers of Emergen-C were sued after lab tests showed their gummies contained significantly less vitamin C than advertised.
Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble faces a class action over claims its melatonin supplements were “natural,” despite containing synthetic ingredients. From fish oil to protein powders, supplement brands are increasingly under the microscope for making bold promises their products can’t clinically support—and now, Lemme is in line.
In her lawsuit against Lemme, Robins wants to represent anyone in the US who purchased Lemme GLP-1 Daily from lemmelive.com.
