Geico has agreed to settle claims that it underpaid Florida health care providers by misinterpreting no-fault insurance laws when calculating personal injury protection (PIP) payments.
The class action lawsuit accused Geico of wrongfully reducing payments by failing to use the highest allowable reimbursement rate under Medicare Part B for 2007 when processing PIP claims. Providers argued that this resulted in unfairly reduced payments for medical services, supplies, and care.
Geico is one of the largest auto insurance companies in the U.S., offering policies to drivers nationwide.
The company denies any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to resolve the lawsuit and compensate affected providers.
If you are a Florida health care provider who submitted PIP claims to Geico during the eligible time period and received less than you were owed, you may be entitled to compensation. Check your eligibility and submit your claim before the deadline.
