Mitsubishi Motors has agreed to pay $8.5 million to resolve claims that certain vehicles were equipped with defective ZF-TRW airbag control units. According to the lawsuit, these components may malfunction during collisions, leading to airbags failing to deploy.
The class action lawsuit alleged that these safety failures put drivers and passengers at risk. Affected vehicles include various Mitsubishi Lancer and Outlander models sold between 2013 and 2017.
While Mitsubishi denies the allegations, the company has agreed to settle the claims to avoid further litigation.
