A class action lawsuit alleging engine defects in certain Dodge Ram trucks has been settled. The lawsuit centered on 2013-2015 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 models equipped with Cummins diesel engines. Plaintiffs claimed that the trucks' selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems were defective, leading to emissions issues and decreased vehicle performance.
The lawsuit alleged that the SCR system, designed to reduce harmful emissions, failed to function as advertised. As a result, affected vehicles experienced problems such as reduced fuel efficiency, engine power loss, and increased repair costs. Plaintiffs argued that these issues significantly impacted the value and usability of their trucks.
FCA US LLC and Cummins, the engine manufacturer, denied any wrongdoing but agreed to a $6 million settlement to resolve the lawsuit and compensate affected vehicle owners and lessees. The settlement aims to provide relief to those who experienced engine problems related to the SCR system.
Under the terms of the settlement, eligible class members will receive a pro rata share of the settlement fund, with an estimated payment of $100.40 per eligible truck. No claim form is required to receive a settlement payment. Eligible class members will automatically receive payments unless they exclude themselves from the settlement.
