$50M Google Race Discrimination Settlement

Black or Black+ employees who worked at Google in job levels 3–6 in California (March 18, 2018–Dec. 31, 2023) or New York (Oct. 15, 2017–Dec. 31, 2023) and are identified in Google's records may qualify.

No proof of purchase is required, though documentation of financial losses, emotional distress, or other damages may result in a larger individual payment.

About This Settlement

A class action lawsuit alleged that Google discriminated against its Black employees by failing to hire them at appropriate levels, assigning them to lower-level jobs, paying them less than similarly situated colleagues, failing to promote them, and maintaining an allegedly racially hostile work environment in violation of federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws. Google has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to a $50 million settlement to resolve these allegations. This page is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.

Who Qualifies

• You may be eligible to participate in this settlement if you meet ALL of the following criteria:
• You are identified in Google's records as Black or Black+
• You worked at Google in job level 3, 4, 5, and/or 6 in a California-based position between March 18, 2018, and December 31, 2023, AND/OR in job level 3, 4, 5, and/or 6 in a New York-based position between October 15, 2017, and December 31, 2023
• You received a notice from the settlement administrator containing a Claimant ID
• No proof of purchase is required to file a claim
• You are NOT eligible if:
• You exclusively held a job within a legal job family or subfamily during the applicable period
• You executed a general release of claims during the applicable period through December 7, 2025

What You May Receive

Individual payment amounts are not yet determined (TBD) and will vary depending on the total number of participating class members and the amount each class member can demonstrate they are owed. Class members who submit documentation of financial losses, emotional distress, or other damages may receive a larger payment. The total settlement fund is $50 million. No specific per-person payout amount has been announced at this time.

How to File a Claim

1. Visit the official settlement website at CurleySettlement.com.
2. Log in using the Claimant ID provided in the notice you received from the settlement administrator.
3. Complete and fill out the claim form available on the settlement website.
4. Gather and submit any supporting documentation of financial losses, emotional distress, or other damages if applicable — providing this documentation may increase your estimated payment.
5. Complete and attach IRS Forms W-4 and W-9 as required by the claim process.
6. Submit your completed claim form and all required documents no later than May 7, 2026. Late submissions may not be accepted. If you did not receive a notice or Claimant ID, contact the settlement administrator.
