Yale New Haven Data Breach Settlement: $18M

Individuals who received a data breach notice from Yale New Haven Health Services indicating that their private information may have been compromised in the breach discovered on March 8, 2025.

Documentation of losses, such as receipts, correspondence, credit statements, or phone records. Not required for $100 alternate cash payment.

Yale New Haven Health Services Corp. has agreed to an $18 million class action settlement to resolve claims it failed to safeguard sensitive patient information in a March 2025 data breach.

The breach allegedly exposed Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and medical information of affected individuals. In response, those who received official notification from Yale New Haven Health may now be eligible for compensation.

Class members may choose between two compensation options:

• Documented Losses: Up to $5,000 for out-of-pocket expenses related to the breach (such as fraud, identity theft recovery, credit freezes, and professional fees). Documentation is required.

• Alternate Cash Payment: A $100 flat payment is available to those without documented losses.

Additionally, all claimants can receive two years of free medical data monitoring, which includes identity theft protection and real-time monitoring features.
