UnitedHealth Group has agreed to a $1.8 million class action settlement to resolve allegations it violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by placing prerecorded voice calls without consent.
The lawsuit centers on prerecorded messages sent through Optum’s At Home program. Plaintiffs say they received repeated robocalls from Optum despite having no business relationship with UnitedHealthcare and never opting in to receive calls. These calls, the lawsuit argues, were illegal under federal robocall restrictions.
UnitedHealth has not admitted wrongdoing but agreed to settle the claims to avoid further litigation.
Eligible class members can file a claim to receive a share of the $1.8 million fund. The amount of each cash payment will depend on how many valid claims are submitted. All payments will be distributed on a pro rata basis.
No proof of purchase or documentation is required to file a claim.
