A class action lawsuit has been settled against U-Haul following data breaches that occurred in September 2022 and December 2023. The lawsuit alleged that the company failed to implement adequate security measures to protect customer data, resulting in the unauthorized access and exposure of sensitive personal information, including names and driver's license numbers.

U-Haul denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to a $5.085 million settlement to compensate affected customers.

Under the terms of the class action settlement, eligible class members can receive a pro rata cash payment, estimated to be around $100 per claimant. The actual amount will depend on the total number of claims filed.
