Squishable.com Inc. has agreed to a $500,000 settlement to resolve claims related to a 2022 data breach that compromised customers’ sensitive personal information. The settlement is available to individuals who received a Notice Letter of the Data Incident, indicating their personal information was exposed during the breach.
The class action lawsuit alleges that Squishable.com, a toy company known for its round stuffed animals and plush creations, failed to adequately protect customer information, leading to a breach between May 26, 2022, and October 12, 2022. During this time, an unauthorized third party accessed files containing sensitive personal data. Squishable denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to resolve the claims.
Class members can receive various benefits based on the following:
- Ordinary Loss Reimbursement: Up to $200 for actual, documented, unreimbursed losses, including:
- Fees and charges
- Professional fees
- Costs of freezing or unfreezing credit
- Credit monitoring costs
- Other expenses directly related to the breach
- Time spent addressing breach-related issues
- Fraud Compensation: Up to $2,500 for verified and documented instances of fraud linked to the data breach.
- California Residents: Eligible California residents can receive an additional $100 under the settlement.
In addition to monetary compensation, Squishable will implement additional security measures to protect personal information in the future.
Class members must submit a valid claim form by November 19, 2024, and provide documentation to verify ordinary losses or instances of fraud related to the data breach.
