RMG Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Individuals residing in the United States whose private information may have been accessed or acquired as a result of the Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology data breach in September 2024.

Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology Associates (RMG) has agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit stemming from a data breach that occurred in September 2024. The breach allegedly exposed sensitive information belonging to patients due to insufficient cybersecurity protections.

According to the plaintiffs, RMG failed to implement appropriate safeguards, which allowed an unauthorized party to access private data. The lawsuit claims this incident could have been prevented through standard security practices and that the breach placed affected individuals at risk of fraud and identity theft.

RMG, a medical provider specializing in gastrointestinal care, denied any wrongdoing but opted to settle the lawsuit to avoid further litigation.

Under the settlement terms, class members may receive up to $1,000 for documented losses related to the breach, including unreimbursed expenses, fraud-related charges, and identity theft. Claimants must provide supporting documentation to qualify for reimbursement.

All eligible individuals will also receive two years of complimentary credit and medical identity monitoring services.

To obtain these benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by February 2, 2026. The exclusion and objection deadline is January 2, 2026, and the final approval hearing will take place on January 23, 2026.
