The Olympic Club, a private athletic and social club in San Francisco, Calif., has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit over claims it failed to prevent a 2022 data breach. The breach, reportedly discovered on June 17, 2022, allegedly compromised the personal information of affected individuals.
Plaintiffs in the lawsuit argue that The Olympic Club was negligent in protecting sensitive data, breached implied contracts with its members, and violated California’s Unfair Business Practices Act. They further allege the company delayed notifying affected individuals until March 10, 2023, nearly eight months after discovering the breach.
While The Olympic Club denies any wrongdoing, it agreed to resolve the claims to avoid further litigation
