Nucor Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Individuals who received a data breach notification from Nucor in or around June 2023, informing them that their personal information may have been compromised in a breach that occurred between May 26, 2023, and June 1, 2023.

Documentation required for reimbursement claims includes:

• Bank statements
• Receipts
• Other evidence of data breach-related expenses

Nucor Corp., a leading steel producer and scrap recycler, has agreed to resolve claims that it failed to adequately protect sensitive employee information during a data breach in May–June 2023. The breach reportedly compromised names, bank account numbers, routing numbers, and other sensitive details belonging to Nucor employees.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit allege that Nucor failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures, leaving sensitive data vulnerable to unauthorized access. The data breach exposed employees to risks of identity theft and fraud, prompting claims for financial and non-financial damages.

Nucor denies any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims and avoid further litigation.

Class members may receive the following benefits:

1. Reimbursement for Documented Losses:

   • Up to $750 for:
     • Bank fees
     • Communication charges
     • Credit monitoring expenses
     • Up to four hours of lost time addressing the breach, reimbursed at $17.50/hour

2. Reimbursement for Extraordinary Losses:

   • Up to $7,500 for class members who experienced significant identity theft or fraud directly related to the data breach.

3. Free Credit Monitoring:

   • Two years of credit monitoring services, even for class members already enrolled in services previously offered by Nucor.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form with supporting documentation by Dec. 30, 2024.
