Nationwide has agreed to a $1.4 million class action settlement to resolve allegations that it placed prerecorded robocalls to consumers in violation of federal law.
The lawsuit claims that Nationwide used automated or prerecorded voice messages to contact consumers about pet insurance renewals or expirations without first obtaining the required consent. Plaintiffs allege these calls violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which restricts the use of robocalls to cellular and residential phone numbers.
Although Nationwide denies violating the law, it agreed to settle the case in order to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation.
Under the settlement terms, eligible class members may receive a cash payment representing an equal share of the net settlement fund. Current estimates suggest individual payments of approximately $17.50, though the final amount will depend on how many valid claims are submitted.
To receive a payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by March 11, 2026. Requests for exclusion or objections must be submitted by January 20, 2026, and the court will hold a final approval hearing on February 24, 2026.
