The lawsuit alleged that MCG Health's failure to implement and maintain adequate cybersecurity measures resulted in the unauthorized access and exposure of sensitive personal information belonging to patients and employees of healthcare providers using MCG Health's services.
MCG Health denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to an $8.8 million settlement to resolve the lawsuit and compensate affected individuals. The settlement aims to provide relief to those impacted by the data breach and includes changes to the company's data security practices.
Eligible class members can choose one of the following options:
- Reimbursement for Losses: Receive up to $1,500 for documented out-of-pocket expenses related to the data breach, and up to an additional $10,000 for extraordinary losses such as identity theft or fraud.
- Pro Rata Cash Payment: Receive a pro rata cash payment, with the exact amount depending on the total number of claims filed.
Additionally, all eligible class members will receive three years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
