Hilb Group Data Breach Settlement: $1.6M

Individuals in the United States who:

• Had their personal information accessed or potentially accessed during the Hilb Group data breach between Dec. 1, 2022, and Jan. 12, 2023.
• Received a data breach notification from Hilb Group.

Documentation required for reimbursement claims includes:

• Bank statements
• Credit card statements
• Receipts
• Invoices

Hilb Group has agreed to a $1.6 million settlement to resolve claims that it failed to prevent a data breach that exposed sensitive customer information. The breach, occurring between Dec. 1, 2022, and Jan. 12, 2023, may have compromised data such as names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, medical records, and more.

Plaintiffs allege that Hilb Group failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures to protect customer data. Hilb Group denies any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to avoid further litigation.

Eligible class members can receive the following benefits:

1. Reimbursement for Documented Losses:

   • Up to $5,000 for expenses such as:
     • Credit monitoring costs
     • Late fees
     • Unauthorized charges on payment cards

2. Pro Rata Cash Payment:

   • Estimated to be around $75, though the actual amount may vary depending on the number of claims submitted.

Submit a valid claim form by Dec. 13, 2024, with required documentation for reimbursement or opt for the pro rata cash payment.
