HCA Healthcare patients whose personal data was exposed in the July 10, 2023, data breach.

To claim reimbursement for losses, class members must provide documentation such as receipts, billing statements, correspondence, or other evidence of fraud-related expenses.

HCA Healthcare has reached a class action settlement to resolve allegations that it failed to secure sensitive patient information during a data breach in 2023. The breach, which affected 3.6 million individuals, reportedly stemmed from a criminal cyberattack that exposed names, appointment details, contact information, and other personal data.

According to the lawsuit, HCA’s lack of adequate cybersecurity measures left patients vulnerable to identity theft, financial fraud, and other serious risks. While the company denies liability, it agreed to the settlement to bring the litigation to a close.

What Class Members Can Receive

Class members who file a valid claim may be eligible for the following benefits:

• Reimbursement for Out-of-Pocket Expenses:
  Affected individuals can claim up to $5,000 for documented losses tied to the data breach. Eligible expenses may include fraudulent charges, identity restoration costs, credit-related fees, and related documentation-supported losses.

• Free Credit Monitoring:
  All class members can enroll in one year of identity protection services, including one-bureau credit monitoring and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.
