Group 1001 Data Breach Settlement: $4.76M

Group 1001 customers, employees, dependents, payees, and others whose personal information may have been exposed during the February 2023 data breach are eligible for settlement benefits.

To claim reimbursement for data breach-related losses, you will need to provide supporting documentation such as bank statements, credit card statements, or other financial records showing expenses related to the data breach.

A class action lawsuit alleging data security failures has been settled with Group 1001 Insurance. The lawsuit claimed that a data breach in February 2023 compromised the personal information of customers, employees, and other individuals. Plaintiffs argued that Group 1001 failed to implement adequate safeguards to protect sensitive data, resulting in the unauthorized access and exposure of personal information.

Group 1001 denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to a $4.76 million settlement to resolve the lawsuit and compensate affected individuals. The settlement aims to provide relief to those impacted by the data breach.

Eligible class members can choose one of the following options:

• Reimbursement for Losses: Receive up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket expenses that you can directly connect to the data breach. This may include bank fees, communication charges incurred to address the breach, travel expenses related to resolving identity theft issues, credit costs like fraudulent charges or fees for credit monitoring, and lost time (up to four hours) at a rate of $20 per hour if you can document the time spent dealing with the breach.
  
  
• Pro Rata Cash Payment: Receive a pro rata cash payment, estimated to be at least $5, with the exact amount depending on the total number of claims filed.

Additionally, all eligible class members will receive three years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
