Gaia Inc., a subscription-based streaming service specializing in wellness programming, has agreed to a $2 million settlement to resolve allegations it violated the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). The class action lawsuit claims Gaia shared users’ personally identifiable viewing information with Facebook via a tracking pixel, without obtaining proper consent.
While Gaia denies the allegations and any liability, it has agreed to this settlement to resolve the claims.
Class members who file valid claims will receive an equal share of the $2 million settlement fund. The exact payment amount depends on the total number of claims submitted.
In addition to the monetary payments, Gaia agreed to suspend the use of the Facebook tracking pixel on certain website pages until it complies with VPPA requirements.
To participate in the Gaia VPPA settlement, class members must submit a valid claim form by the December 2, 2024 deadline. No proof of purchase is required to file a claim.
This settlement aims to compensate affected users while ensuring Gaia complies with privacy standards moving forward. If you qualify, don’t miss your chance to file a claim.
