Forbes has agreed to a $7.5 million class action settlement to resolve claims that it violated the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) by sharing users’ video-watching data with Facebook without proper consent.
According to the lawsuit, Forbes allegedly used a Facebook tracking pixel on its website that allowed subscriber identities and video preferences to be shared with Meta (Facebook). The VPPA prohibits video content providers from sharing this type of personally identifiable information unless consumers explicitly agree.
While Forbes denies any wrongdoing, it agreed to settle the lawsuit to avoid further litigation.
What Class Members Can Receive
Class members who submit a valid claim form may receive:

Cash Payment: Estimated up to $15 per claimant. Final payment amounts may vary depending on how many valid claims are submitted and the net settlement fund available after deductions for fees and costs.
