Fontainebleau Florida Hotel LLC has proposed a settlement to resolve claims that it failed to prevent a 2022 data breach that exposed personal information. The settlement benefits individuals in the United States who received a notice of the data breach, which occurred between August 30 and September 2, 2022.
The class action lawsuit alleges that unauthorized access to Fontainebleau’s systems exposed customers’ personal information, including names, Social Security numbers, and financial account numbers. Plaintiffs claim the breach could have been prevented through better cybersecurity measures. Fontainebleau, which operates luxury hotels in Miami and Las Vegas, denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.
Under the settlement terms, impacted individuals can receive various benefits:
In addition to monetary compensation, Fontainebleau will implement improved data security measures.
Eligible class members must submit a valid claim form by October 31, 2024, along with documentation such as receipts, invoices, bills, bank statements, credit reports, or tax documents for reimbursement claims.
