DP Brokerage, an insurance agency and brokerage firm, has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit stemming from a December 2022 cybersecurity incident that allegedly exposed personal information. Plaintiffs claim DP Brokerage failed to implement adequate measures to secure sensitive data. The company denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to an undisclosed settlement amount to resolve the claims.

Settlement Benefits

Eligible class members can choose from several compensation options:

1. Reimbursement for Ordinary Losses:

   • Up to $2,000 for expenses related to the data breach, such as:
     • Bank fees
     • Credit monitoring costs
     • Identity theft-related expenses
     • Communication and travel costs

2. Reimbursement for Extraordinary Losses:

   • Up to $5,000 for significant financial damages resulting from fraud or identity theft directly linked to the breach.

3. Lost Time Compensation:

   • Up to $80 for up to four hours of time spent addressing issues related to the data breach, at a rate of $20 per hour.

4. Credit Monitoring Services:

   • Two years of credit monitoring services to protect against future identity theft or fraud.

5. Alternative Cash Payment:

   • Class members can elect to receive a $50 cash payment instead of claiming other benefits.
