AUS Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Individuals who received a data breach notification from AUS stating their full name and other personal information may have been compromised on Nov. 28, 2022.

To claim reimbursement, class members must provide documentation of expenses related to the breach, such as:

• Bank and credit card statements showing fraudulent transactions

AUS has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit over claims that it failed to protect consumer data from an unauthorized security breach in November 2022.

According to the lawsuit, cybercriminals gained access to AUS’s systems and potentially exposed sensitive consumer data, including:

• Other sensitive details

Plaintiffs claim that AUS failed to implement proper cybersecurity measures, making it easier for hackers to infiltrate its systems. The lawsuit alleges that AUS could have prevented the breach through stronger security protocols and proactive data protection strategies.

AUS denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims and compensate affected individuals.

Settlement Benefits

• Ordinary Losses: Up to $400 for unreimbursed fraud, bank fees, credit monitoring expenses, and other financial damages.
• Lost Time Compensation: Up to four hours at $30 per hour (totaling $120).
• Extraordinary Losses: Up to $4,500 for significant financial damages, such as identity theft or fraud-related expenses.
• Alternative Cash Payment: Class members who did not experience losses can opt for a $115 cash payment.
• Free Credit Monitoring: All class members can receive two years of credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, and identity theft insurance (coverage up to $1 million).
