A $2.75 million settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Ardagh Glass, a packaging manufacturer, following a 2021 ransomware attack that allegedly compromised the personal information of approximately 5,300 individuals.
The lawsuit accuses Ardagh Glass of failing to adequately safeguard the sensitive data of its employees and their dependents, resulting in a cyberattack that exposed names, Social Security numbers, and other personally identifiable information. Ardagh Glass has denied any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the claims to resolve the litigation.
Settlement Benefits
Class members are eligible to receive:
- Reimbursement for Out-of-Pocket Expenses: Up to $11,000 for documented losses related to identity theft, fraud, credit monitoring, professional fees, and other expenses stemming from the breach.
- Lost Time Compensation: Up to $125 for five hours of lost time addressing breach-related issues, compensated at $25 per hour.
- Pro Rata Payments: After reimbursements are distributed, remaining settlement funds will be allocated among class members as additional cash payments. No claim form is needed for these pro rata payments.
- Free Credit Monitoring Services: Three years of three-bureau credit monitoring, including identity theft insurance of up to $1 million.
Additional Settlement Provisions
As part of the settlement, Ardagh Glass has committed to enhancing its cybersecurity practices. These improvements include new data security policies, employee training, monitoring and response capabilities, and other measures to reduce the risk of future breaches.

Class members must file a claim to access reimbursement benefits and free credit monitoring. Automatic pro rata payments will be distributed to all eligible class members without requiring a claim form.
