Washington State Farm UMPD policyholders who received payment for vehicle property damage from accidents between Jan. 13, 2019, and Feb. 27, 2026, where repair estimates totaled at least $1,000, the vehicle was no more than six years old with fewer than 90,000 miles, and suffered structural or body damage.

A class action lawsuit alleged that State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. failed to fully pay Washington policyholders for the alleged diminished value of their vehicles under their underinsured motorist property damage (UMPD) coverage, in breach of its automobile insurance contracts. State Farm has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $8.82 million to resolve these claims. This page is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.
Eligible class members who submit a valid claim form may receive an estimated average payment of approximately $625. Your actual payment will be calculated as a pro rata share of the net settlement fund, based on your vehicle repair costs relative to the total repair costs of all class members. Payments may be reduced by the amount of any diminished value payment you previously received from State Farm. If you had more than one qualifying accident, you may receive a separate payment for each qualifying accident by submitting a separate claim form for each. Actual payment amounts are not guaranteed and will depend on the total number of valid claims submitted.
