Plaintiffs argued that Clif Bar's use of terms like "nutrition" and "nourishing" created a misleading impression about the products' health benefits. The class action lawsuit alleged that these claims induced consumers to purchase Clif bars at a premium price based on false or misleading information.

Under the terms of the Clif Bars class action settlement, eligible class members can receive a monetary payment based on the number of Clif or Clif Kid products purchased. Payment tiers are as follows:

• Without proof of purchase:
  • Up to 30 bars: $5
  • 31-60 bars: $10
  • Over 60 bars: $15
    
    
• With proof of purchase:
  • First 60 bars: $15
  • Each additional bar: $0.25 (up to a maximum of $50 total)
