Breyers has agreed to an $8.85 million settlement to resolve claims that its Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream was falsely advertised as containing real vanilla exclusively derived from the vanilla plant. Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit allege that the labeling misled consumers into believing the ice cream contained vanilla flavor derived solely from the vanilla plant when, in fact, it allegedly included flavoring from non-vanilla plant sources.
Breyers, owned by Conopco Inc., disputes these allegations and denies any wrongdoing.
Under the terms of the settlement, consumers who purchased any size of Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream between April 21, 2016, and August 14, 2024 can receive:
