Toyota Camry Defective HVAC Settlement

Toyota has agreed to a settlement to reimburse current and former owners and lessees of certain Toyota Camry vehicles in California who experienced foul odors or mold growth in their vehicles' heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The settlement covers California residents who owned or leased 2012 to 2015 Toyota Camry XV50 vehicles as of May 31, 2024.

The class action lawsuit claimed that Toyota equipped some Camry vehicles with defective HVAC systems that allowed moisture to accumulate. Over time, this moisture allegedly led to unpleasant odors and, in some instances, mold growth. Although Toyota has not admitted any wrongdoing, the company has agreed to settle the lawsuit to resolve these claims.

Under the terms of the settlement, eligible consumers can receive reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses related to the alleged HVAC defect. This includes costs for replacing or installing a charcoal filter and for flushing the evaporators in the affected vehicles.
