Toyota Bluetooth Echo Settlement

Anyone who currently owns, leases, or previously purchased or leased one of the following vehicles in AZ, CA, CO, GA, IL, MN, MO, NY, OH, OR, or WA as of August 18, 2025:

• 2014–2019 4Runner, Highlander, Highlander HV, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra

• 2015–2018 Avalon, Avalon HV

• 2015–2017 Sienna

• 2015–2019 Prius V

• 2016–2018 Mirai

• 2016–2019 Prius

• 2017–2019 Prius Prime

• 2015 Venza

• 2018–2019 Yaris

Not required. Eligibility will be determined through vehicle ownership and service records.

Toyota has agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging that several of its vehicles were equipped with a Bluetooth hands-free phone system that caused echoing during phone calls. Plaintiffs claim this defect made it difficult for callers on the other end to hear clearly and that Toyota failed to disclose the issue, violating consumer protection laws in multiple states.

Although Toyota has not admitted any wrongdoing, it will provide injunctive relief to address the issue.

What Class Members Can Receive

Rather than a cash payment, the settlement includes an educational outreach program designed to help affected customers resolve the echo problem through volume adjustments:

• Dedicated Website: Instructions on how to modify Bluetooth settings

• Communications: Emails or mailed notices to current owners and lessees

• Social Media Outreach: Awareness ads explaining available solutions

• Dealer Support: A renewed technical tip available to Toyota service departments

• IVR Support Line: Phone assistance to guide consumers through the process

These tools are intended to mitigate the Bluetooth echo issue without requiring physical repairs.
