Plaintiffs alleged that Summit Medical Group, a network of primary care and specialty clinics in Tennessee, failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures to prevent a cyberattack that occurred in September 2024. The breach allegedly compromised sensitive patient information, including Social Security numbers and health insurance data. Summit Medical Group has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a settlement featuring a $500,000 cap for cash claims, plus separate funding for legal fees and medical data monitoring, to resolve the alleged claims. As a class member, you may be eligible to receive the following benefits:
• Up to $2,500 in reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses resulting from the alleged data breach, such as identity theft costs, fraud-related expenses, credit fees, and ID replacement costs
• Up to $45 in lost time compensation (up to three hours at $15 per hour) if you spent time dealing with issues related to the alleged breach
• Two years of free medical data monitoring through CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which may include up to $1 million in identity theft insurance and monitoring for various types of medical fraud — available to all class members regardless of documented losses
The total estimated potential award per class member is up to $2,545 for cash benefits, plus the value of monitoring services. Actual payouts may vary. The settlement includes a $500,000 cap for cash claims; if total valid claims exceed this amount, individual payments may be reduced proportionally.
