A class action lawsuit alleged that Americold, a temperature-controlled storage company, failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures, allegedly resulting in two separate data breaches in November 2020 and April 2023 that put consumers at risk for identity theft and fraud. Americold has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to a $5.25 million settlement to resolve these claims. This page is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.
Eligible class members may receive the following benefits, depending on the number of breaches they were affected by and the losses they incurred:
• Up to $25,000 for documented, unreimbursed losses related to the data breaches — such as communication expenses, credit report costs, credit monitoring fees, and identity theft damages. Supporting documentation is required for this claim type.
• An estimated residual cash payment of up to $200 if you were notified of both data breaches, or up to $100 if you were notified of only one breach. No documentation is required for residual cash payments.
• Three years of free credit monitoring services, including at least $1 million in identity theft protection coverage.
Actual payout amounts are not guaranteed and may vary based on claim volume and eligibility determinations.
