About This Settlement
Plaintiffs alleged that Johnson & Johnson violated Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by allegedly collecting, storing, disclosing, and profiting from users' biometric facial geometry data through its Neutrogena Skin360 app without providing legally required written disclosures or obtaining written consent. Johnson & Johnson has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $4.7 million settlement to resolve these allegations. As part of the settlement, Johnson & Johnson also agreed to delete images obtained during skin assessments and to maintain a BIPA-compliant consent mechanism going forward.
Who Qualifies
