$167.5M Visa & Mastercard ATM Surcharge Settlement

Individuals who were charged an access fee for a cash withdrawal at an independent ATM between Oct. 24, 2007, and Aug. 14, 2026, and were not fully reimbursed by their bank qualify, including separate state classes for California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Michigan residents.

Bank statements, receipts, or other documentation of qualifying ATM surcharge transactions are required.

About This Settlement

A class action lawsuit alleged that Visa and Mastercard violated federal and state antitrust laws by prohibiting independent ATM operators from charging different access fees based on which payment network processed the transaction. As a result of these alleged practices, consumers were purportedly forced to pay higher ATM access fees than they otherwise would have. Without admitting any wrongdoing, Visa and Mastercard have agreed to pay a combined $167.5 million — Visa contributing $88,775,000 and Mastercard contributing $78,725,000 — to resolve these allegations. Who Qualifies

• You may be eligible to file a claim if you meet all of the following criteria:
• You were charged an access fee for a cash withdrawal at an independent (non-bank) ATM
• Your qualifying withdrawal(s) occurred between October 24, 2007, and August 14, 2026
• You were not fully reimbursed for the ATM access fee by your bank
• Residents of California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Michigan may also qualify as members of separate state-wide classes
• You are able to provide bank statements, receipts, or other documentation supporting your qualifying transactions

What You May Receive

Eligible claimants may receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the number of qualifying surcharged ATM transactions they submit with their claim. Exact payment amounts are not yet available and will vary depending on the total number of valid claims filed. There is no guaranteed payout amount.

4. Submit your completed claim form and documentation by the claim deadline of February 10, 2027. Late submissions may not be accepted.
