A $129.5 million settlement has been reached to resolve claims that The Reynolds and Reynolds Company (“Reynolds”) and CDK Global, LLC (“CDK”) conspired to inflate the prices of their Dealer Management Services (DMS). This settlement benefits vehicle sellers across the United States who purchased DMS from these companies between September 1, 2013, and August 15, 2024.
This class action lawsuit, formally known as In re Dealer Management Systems Antitrust Litigation (MDL 2817, 18-cv-00864), was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is overseen by Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer. The plaintiffs—U.S. auto dealerships—alleged that Reynolds and CDK conspired to fix prices and eliminate competition in the market for Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and Data Integration Services (DIS). These practices allegedly violated federal antitrust laws and certain state consumer protection laws.
Reynolds and CDK deny all allegations of wrongdoing, but they have agreed to the $129.5 million settlement to resolve the claims and avoid further litigation.
Under the terms of the settlement, vehicle sellers who purchased DMS from Reynolds or CDK during the specified period can receive cash payments based on the number of months they paid for the services. Vehicle sellers who operated under multiple locations are eligible to submit claims for each location to receive separate payments.
To receive settlement benefits, eligible class members must submit a valid claim form by January 9, 2025. Proof of purchase is required to substantiate the claim, including documents such as DMS schedules, service agreements, master agreements, or other contract documents.
The amount each class member will receive varies and is based on the number of months they paid for the services and the number of claims filed. Businesses with multiple locations can receive compensation for each location that used the services during the relevant period.
